Blessed Anthony of Stroncone
Blessed Anthony of Stroncone (born 1381 AD in Stroncone, Umbria, Italy; died February 7, 1461 AD in Assisi, Umbria, Italy) was an Italian Franciscan lay brother (friar minor) from Stroncone in Umbria who became a companion of Saint Bernardine of Siena and one of the outstanding lay brothers of the 15th-century Franciscan Observant reform. He was known for profound humility, mystical gifts, and a life of penance and charity that spanned 80 years. His cult was confirmed by Pope Clement X in 1687. His feast day is February 7.

Biography
Anthony was born in 1381 in Stroncone, a hill town near Terni in Umbria. He entered the Franciscan Observant reform as a lay brother — not a priest, but a brother who did the manual work of the friary and supported the apostolic work of others through humble service and prayer.
He became a companion of Saint Bernardine of Siena (1380–1444), the great Franciscan mission preacher who promoted devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus throughout Italy. As Bernardine preached, Anthony supported him through prayer and fraternal service.
He lived a long life of approximately 80 years, entirely in the Franciscan Observant tradition, marked by humility, penance, and mystical prayer. He died February 7, 1461, at Assisi, the city of Saint Francis.
His cult was confirmed by Pope Clement X in 1687.
