Blessed Anne Maugrain
Blessed Anne Maugrain (died 1794 AD in Laval, Mayenne, France) was a French laywoman and martyr of the French Revolution, venerated as one of the Martyrs of Laval. She was among a group of Catholic men and women from the city and diocese of Laval in Mayenne (western France) who were killed during the Reign of Terror for their Catholic faith. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on June 19, 1955... [correction: the Martyrs of Laval were beatified by Pius XII on February 19, 1955]. Her feast day is January 19.

Biography
Anne Maugrain was a laywoman from Laval in the Mayenne department of western France. She lived in the deeply Catholic region of Maine and Anjou, where the French Revolution's anti-Catholic policies faced the most determined resistance.
When the Revolutionary government required the taking of oaths against the Catholic Church and persecuted those who maintained their Catholic faith, Anne Maugrain refused to abandon her faith. She was arrested along with a group of other local Catholics — priests and laywomen — and guillotined at Laval on January 19, 1794, during the Reign of Terror.
She was beatified by Pope Pius XII on February 19, 1955, as one of the 19 Martyrs of Laval.
