Blessed Anna Rosa Gattorno
Blessed Anna Rosa Gattorno (born October 14, 1831 AD in Genoa, Liguria, Italy; died May 6, 1900 AD in Rome, Italy) was an Italian widow and foundress of the Daughters of Saint Anne, Handmaids of the Immaculate Conception (Figlie di Sant'Anna, Serve dell'Immacolata Concezione), a religious congregation dedicated to the care of the sick, poor, and marginalized. Widowed at 28 with three children, she eventually founded a congregation that spread across Italy and beyond. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 9, 2000. Her feast day is May 6.

Biography
Anna Rosa Gattorno was born October 14, 1831, in Genoa, the maritime capital of Liguria. She married and had three children. Widowed at approximately 28 years of age, she bore this loss with faith and began a period of deeper prayer and apostolic service to the sick and poor.
She received encouragement from Saint John Bosco and over several years of discernment founded the Daughters of Saint Anne, Handmaids of the Immaculate Conception in 1866 — a congregation dedicated to the care of the sick, poor, elderly, and marginalized.
The congregation grew throughout Italy and eventually internationally. She governed it from Rome, where she died on May 6, 1900.
She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on April 9, 2000.
