Blessed Angelo Carletti DI Chivasso
Blessed Angelo Carletti di Chivasso (born c. 1411 AD in Chivasso, Piedmont, Italy; died April 12, 1495 AD in Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy) was an Italian Franciscan Observant friar, theologian, and moral theologian, best known as the author of the Summa Angelica (1486) — one of the most widely used moral theology manuals of the late 15th century. He also served as a papal legate, preached the Crusade in Germany, and worked to establish and reform Franciscan Observant communities throughout Italy. He was beatified by Pope Clement XII in 1753. His feast day is April 12.

Biography
Angelo Carletti was born c. 1411 in Chivasso near Turin, Piedmont. He received a humanist education and took a degree in civil law before entering the Franciscan Order, where he became a leading figure in the Observant reform movement.
He rose to become Vicar General of the Franciscan Observants in Italy, leading the reform branch of the Order and establishing new houses throughout the peninsula. Pope Sixtus IV appointed him as apostolic legate to preach the Crusade against the Ottoman Turks in Germany and Savoy — a mission he carried out with great energy.
His greatest intellectual legacy is the Summa Angelica de Casibus Conscientiae (1486) — an alphabetically organized handbook of moral theology for confessors. The work was so influential that Martin Luther burned it publicly in 1520 as a symbol of the Catholic moral tradition he was rejecting.
He died April 12, 1495, at Cuneo, Piedmont, at approximately 84 years of age. He was beatified by Pope Clement XII (confirmation of cult) in 1753.
