Blessed Angel of Mexico
Blessed Angel of Mexico (Blessed Angel Liquidambar) (died July 27, 1624 AD in Nagasaki, Japan) was a Mexican-born Franciscan tertiary (lay brother) who traveled to Japan as part of the Franciscan missionary effort and was martyred during the Tokugawa persecution of Christians. He was among the 205 Martyrs of Japan beatified by Pope Benedict XVI at Nagasaki on May 24, 2008. His feast day is September 10.

Biography
Angel of Mexico (Liquidambar) was born in New Spain (Mexico) and became a Franciscan tertiary. He traveled the trans-Pacific route — Mexico to Manila to Japan — as part of the Franciscan missionary enterprise in the age of the Manila Galleon trade.
He arrived in Japan and served the underground Catholic community during the Tokugawa shogunate's intensifying persecution of Christianity. He was arrested at Nagasaki and martyred on July 27, 1624, for professing the Catholic faith.
He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI at Nagasaki on May 24, 2008, as one of the 205 Martyrs of Japan.
