Blessed Andrea Carlo Ferrari
Blessed Andrea Carlo Ferrari (born August 13, 1850 AD in Lalatta di Collecchio, Parma, Italy; died February 2, 1921 AD in Milan, Lombardy, Italy) was an Italian Cardinal who served as Archbishop of Milan from 1894 to 1921. A devoted pastor of souls, he governed the vast Archdiocese of Milan with holiness and pastoral zeal, promoting social Catholicism, Catholic education, and care for the poor. His cause was opposed during his lifetime by integralists who suspected his modernist sympathies; he was eventually vindicated. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 10, 1987. His feast day is February 2.

Biography
Andrea Carlo Ferrari was born August 13, 1850, in Lalatta di Collecchio near Parma. He was ordained for the Diocese of Parma and served as a curate and seminary professor before being appointed Bishop of Guastalla (1890) and Archbishop of Milan (1894).
His 27-year archiepiscopate (1894–1921) was one of the longest in Milanese history. He governed the vast diocese with pastoral zeal, promoting Catholic social organizations, workers' associations, cooperatives, and schools. He was loved by his clergy and faithful.
During the Modernist crisis (1907 onward), integralist critics accused him of modernism. Investigations by the Holy Office caused him great suffering, which he accepted with obedience and peace. He was eventually cleared.
He died February 2, 1921 — Candlemas — at Milan, at age 70.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 10, 1987, at Milan.
