Blessed Anacleto González Flores
Blessed Anacleto González Flores (born July 13, 1888 AD in Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco, Mexico; died April 1, 1927 AD in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico) was a Mexican Catholic Action leader and lawyer who was martyred during the Cristero War. He organized peaceful resistance to the anti-Catholic laws of the Mexican government of President Calles and was eventually captured, tortured, and executed. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 2005. His feast day is April 1.

Biography
Anacleto González Flores was born July 13, 1888, in Tepatitlán de Morelos, Jalisco — the heartland of Mexican Catholicism and the eventual epicenter of the Cristero War.
He studied law at Guadalajara, where he became a leading figure of Catholic Action, organizing youth groups, editing a Catholic newspaper, and speaking publicly for Catholic rights.
When President Plutarco Elías Calles implemented severe anti-Catholic laws in 1926 (the Ley Calles) — closing churches, expelling priests, and banning religious education — González Flores organized peaceful civic resistance: boycotts, civic disobedience, and public demonstrations.
He was captured by government forces, tortured (hooks were driven through his muscles, he was beaten severely), and executed by firing squad on April 1, 1927, in Guadalajara. He died with the words Muero, pero Dios no muere ("I die, but God does not die").
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 22, 2005.
