Blessed Alexius Sanbashi Saburo (died September 10, 1617 AD in Nagasaki, Japan) was a Japanese Catholic layman who was martyred during the persecution of Christians in Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate. He is among the 205 Martyrs of Japan beatified by Pope Francis on November 24, 2008. His feast day is September 10.

Biography
Alexius Sanbashi Saburo was a Japanese Catholic layman living in the Nagasaki area during the Tokugawa persecution of Christians.
He was executed on September 10, 1617, in Nagasaki, one of the thousands of Japanese Catholics who died for their faith during the systematic persecution ordered by the Tokugawa shogunate. The Japanese Catholic community had grown rapidly after the arrival of Saint Francis Xavier (1549) and the subsequent Jesuit and Franciscan missions; the Tokugawa government suppressed Christianity, and thousands gave their lives rather than apostatize.
He was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI (by papal mandate) on November 24, 2008, in Nagasaki, as one of the 205 Martyrs of Japan — one of the largest group beatifications in Church history.
