Blessed Alberto Marvelli
Blessed Alberto Marvelli (born March 21, 1918 AD in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy; died October 5, 1946 AD in Rimini, Emilia-Romagna, Italy) was an Italian Catholic layman, engineer, and youth leader. Despite his demanding professional and civic life, he was known for heroic charity toward the poor and prisoners, and for his deep interior life. He died at age 28 in a road accident near Rimini. He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 5, 2004. His feast day is October 5.

Biography
Alberto Marvelli was born March 21, 1918, in Ferrara, Italy, to a devout Catholic family. The family moved to Rimini, where he grew up and became deeply involved in Catholic Action youth movements and the local FUCI (university Catholic federation).
He studied mechanical engineering at the University of Bologna while living in Rimini and serving as a leader in Catholic youth organizations.
During the German occupation and Allied bombardment of Rimini (1943–1944), he worked heroically to help civilians, protect prisoners and refugees, and maintain the Church's charitable life amid the destruction. After the war he organized relief efforts and ran for local government as a Catholic candidate.
He kept a spiritual diary that reveals a rich interior life combining deep prayer with tireless apostolic activity.
He died October 5, 1946, when a military vehicle struck his bicycle on the streets of Rimini. He was 28 years old.
He was beatified by Pope John Paul II on September 5, 2004, at Loreto during the XXV World Youth Day.
