Blessed Albert of Bologna
Blessed Albert of Bologna (born c. 1240 AD in Bologna, Emilia-Romagna, Italy; died April 14, 1307 AD in Messina, Sicily, Italy) was an Italian Augustinian hermit friar. He served as Prior Provincial of the Augustinian Order in Sicily and was known for his holiness, charity, and miraculous gifts. He died at Messina in 1307. He was beatified by Pope Benedict XIV in 1744. His feast day is April 14.

Biography
Albert of Bologna was born c. 1240 in Bologna, one of the great intellectual cities of medieval Europe. He entered the Augustinian Order and pursued the life of an Augustinian hermit friar, combining contemplative prayer with charitable ministry and preaching.
He rose to serve as Prior Provincial of the Augustinian Order for Sicily, governing the Sicilian province from Messina during the turbulent era of the Sicilian Vespers and the War of the Vespers (1282 onward).
He was known for personal holiness, austerity, and charity to the poor and sick. Miraculous healings were attributed to him both during life and after death.
He died April 14, 1307, at Messina. He was beatified by Pope Benedict XIV in 1744.
