Establishment
The Archdiocese of Santa Fe de la Vera Cruz was established on 15 February 1897 by Pope Leo XIII to serve the growing Catholic population in the province of Santa Fe, Argentina. It was initially erected as a diocese and later elevated to the rank of archdiocese on 20 April 1934.
History
The territory that would become the archdiocese saw early Catholic presence through Spanish colonial missions and Jesuit activity in the 17th and 18th centuries.
