Establishment

The Apostolic Vicariate of Tucupita was established on July 30, 1951, by Pope Pius XII to serve the growing Catholic population in the Delta Amacuro state of Venezuela. The apostolic vicariate was formed from the Archdiocese of Cumaná and is a suffragan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Cumaná.[1]
